Job Overview:  

Are you passionate about corporate social responsibility and excited about helping to build and execute the national corporate philanthropy programs for a well-known consumer brand? Macy’s is currently seeking a Manager, Corporate Giving who will manage and execute the Company’s total corporate giving grants management programs – at a national, regional and local level.  With a shared passion for making life shine brighter for our customers, colleagues and communities, you will bring to life the culture of giving back.  

You will collaborate cross-functionally to assess, innovate, manage and execute a corporate strategy for giving, focused on relevance, engagement and impact, and alignment to Macy’s values and core business. 

The ideal candidate has a customer service mindset and will thrive in a fast-paced environment, is an assertive, strategic and progressive thinker, an inclusive leader with strong executive presence, and ability to build meaningful partnerships with our stores teams and non-profits.

This role will report direct to the Director, Corporate Giving, and join a team of existing and new communications and giving talent all working together to build a strong Giving and Volunteerism function at Macy’s. Retail experience is a plus, but not a must.
The colleague is also responsible for fulfillment and performing other duties as necessary.  This position will be based out of New York City.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage all elements of grants management for your regions, including the invitation, review and approval phase through to collecting final reports and tax acknowledgements.
  • Identify, track and measure the impact of our programs on our local communities.
  • Budgetary management, tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with non-profit partners.
  • Partner with Store, District, Regional Captains, and internal cross-functional teams as necessary to build an effective grants management program.
  • Foster community and collaboration across the grant captains network to facilitate best practice sharing.
  • Develop campaign and program materials and toolkits providing guidance and training for captains.
  • Partner with internal and external communications to develop robust 360 communication plans to drive engagement and affinity with our giving and volunteer programs and demonstrate our impact to all audiences – customers, colleagues and communities.
  • Manage Corporate Giving Coordinator.
  • Manage any journal ads and collateral in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required.  
  • Minimum of 5 years grants management experience.  
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience.  
  • Strong working knowledge of grants management software applications, such as Benevity.  
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, and Excel) is essential (including ability to manipulate data in Excel).
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals. 
  • Writing, editing and proofreading abilities within AP Style.  
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and develop good working relationships.  
Mathematical Skills:
  • Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. 
Reasoning Ability:
  • Team player, self-starter, ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands:
  • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking. 
  • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. 
  • May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.  
  • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. 
  • May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.
Other Skills:
  • Customer service mindset and proven track record of fostering collaborative partnerships internally and externally with a focus on customer service. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and level of accuracy.  
  • Analytical, proactive and creative skills.  
  • Resourceful, highly organized, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Work Hours:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
  • Minimal travel required.
