When You Join Macy's Retail |
|
The training process begins on your first day of employment.
All new hires in all types of positions receive a comprehensive orientation so you clearly understand Macy's, our business objectives, our vision and values, and how you contribute to the success of the company. Orientation is delivered in a variety of ways including one-on-one conversations, group classroom sessions, computer-based modules and on-the-job training.
Executive Positions
If you join Macy's in an executive position, you'll have a wide variety of opportunities for development in Leadership, Business Skills, Job Specific Skills and Professional and Career Development.
Sales Associates
Sales associates play a crucial role in serving our customers. Our ongoing training program is designed to help make our sales associates knowledgeable, efficient and successful. If you're a new sales associate, expect to spend a big part of your first week at work in training:
- All new sales associates receive detailed, computer-based training on our Point of Sale register systems so you will feel confident when using the latest in retail technology to help your customers.
- You'll receive service and selling skills training (both in a classroom and via computer) to sharpen your technique and achieve your goals.
- You'll be assigned a "buddy" who will offer helpful advice and guide you through day-to-day routines to help get you up to speed.
- Each season, you'll be part of extensive product training in the merchandise areas where you're assigned. This will include learning from printed materials, seminars and videos.
Selling Support/Administrative Associates
Associates in selling support positions are provided the tools they need to perform their current jobs and prepare for other opportunities down the road.
- Job-specific training in the classroom, as well as on the job, to build your technical abilities.
- Computer skills training for everyone not already proficient in programs such as Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes.
- Computer-based training on subjects such as diversity and safety.
