Overview of Position:
As a Senior Designer you will direct a team of store design professionals in the development of design packages for all assigned new and remodel store projects. You will have full responsibility for managing those assigned projects. Following are some of the specific responsibilities of the job:
Key Accountabilities:
 | Oversee the refinement of a design turnover package while standardizing an approach to design development that will enable the design team to efficiently manage a larger number of projects. |
| Manage design process to insure that all assigned projects follow Macy's, Inc.'s established guidelines of best practice, A and B store formats, and any other agreed upon criteria. |
| Assign and manage the work of the designers and junior designers on assigned projects. |
| Know and understand the budget and scheduling constraints for assigned projects. Make certain projects are done within budget and on time. |
| Coordinate design presentations with store divisions. |
| Lead the effort to foster a collaborative spirit among the design, planning, and construction staff in order to facilitate the smooth completion of assigned projects. |
Skills Summary:
| Four year, undergraduate degree in a discipline of the arts (Architecture, Interior Design, Fine Arts, Design, etc.). |
| Seven or more years of architectural or design experience in a retail environment. |
| Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel. |
| Outstanding oral and written communication skills. |
| Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment juggling multiple projects and priorities. |
| Ability to manage projects from start to finish with little or no supervision. |
| Ability to motivate and supervise a team of less experienced designers. |
| Ability to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, working relationships. |
