Operating Vice President of Store Design

Overview of Position:
As Operating Vice President, Store Design, you will be responsible for the conceptual direction and productivity of the Store Design department. You will direct and coordinate all operations including assignment of projects, budgeting, and staffing of the department. Some of your direct responsibilities include:

Key Accountabilities:

bulletWork with the OVP's of Store Planning and Store Construction to develop a scope of work with respect to general configuration, interior architecture, design, and material selections for all assigned projects. Provide recommendations as to budget and schedule for store division and Macy's, Inc. senior management approval.
bulletDirect the store design organization in the design, design development, and detail aspects of all assigned projects. Meet established goals for scope, budget, and schedule.
bulletAdminister the coordination of work between the design team and outside consultants. Direct the development of documents necessary to achieve established goals for assigned projects.
bulletAdminister the development and maintenance of Macy's, Inc. standards for interior architecture, interior design, color and materials, and design elements in coordination with other Macy's, Inc. executives.
bulletContinue the development of AutoCAD and related programs with emphasis on the use of technology to improve productivity, reduce cost of design/design development, and accelerate project schedules.

Skills Summary:

bulletFour year, undergraduate degree in a discipline of the arts (Architecture, Interior Design, Fine Arts, Design, etc.). Masters degree is preferable.
bulletMore than ten years of architectural or design experience in a retail environment, with the last five years being spent in a supervisory role.
bulletProficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel.
bulletProven ability to communicate effectively with senior level executives and the vendor community.
bulletPrior experience planning, forecasting, and monitoring budgets and staffing.
bulletAbility to direct and effectively coach a team of people.
