Overview of Position:
As Director of Store Planning you will manage the store planning process for a large number of projects and provide direction and support to the store planning organization regarding issues of merchandising and project management. Specific job responsibilities include the following:
Key Accountabilities:
 | Direct the development of block plans from area layering and square footage programs for assigned projects. Participate in the refinement of block plans via sub-classification analysis and meetings with store divisions. |
 | Supervise the development of block plans for issuance to store divisions and Macy's, Inc. senior management for all assigned projects, assuring that all plans adhere to established schedules, guidelines, checklists, and local building and exiting codes. |
 | Supervise the development of merchandise plans and merchandise fixture/function details with respect to project scope, schedule and budget for all assigned projects. |
 | Participate with other Store Planning/Design/Construction personnel in the development of scope documents for all assigned projects. |
 | Research competitors' fixtures and merchandising strategies and supervise maintenance of a reference library. Suggest areas of improvement or intensification for merchandise plans. |
Skills Summary:
 | Four year, undergraduate degree in a discipline of the arts (Architecture, Interior Design, Fine Arts, Design, etc.). |
 | Ten or more years of architectural or planning experience in a retail environment. |
 | Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel. |
 | Outstanding oral and written communication skills. |
 | Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment supervising multiple projects and priorities. |
 | Prior supervisory experience. |
