Sacramento

Page 1*Page 2Page 3
Some of the finest cultural opportunities are offered in Sacramento as well. Enjoy a concert, film or special event in the beautifully restored Crest Theatre. How about a night at the ballet? The Sacramento Ballet is a professional dance company dedicated to bringing classical and contemporary ballet to the Sacramento area. You can also enjoy the performing arts when you watch a production by California State University's award-winning department of theatre and dance. Cruise down the Sacramento River on the Spirit of Sacramento, a 110-foot paddlewheel riverboat that conducts sightseeing excursions. Special events throughout the year in the area include the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee on Memorial Day and the California State Fair in late July.

On the south side of Sacramento is William Land Park, where there are numerous activities that will keep you entertained all day. Spend your day feeding the animals at the Sacramento Zoo, reminiscing your childhood fantasies at Fairytale Town, strolling through a grove of cherry trees, or playing a round of golf on one of the numerous public golf courses.

Sports fans will be in the heat of it all as they view Sacramento athletics. Basketball at its best is at ARCO Arena, where the NBA Sacramento Kings and the WNBA Sacramento Monarchs host their home games. Love baseball? Cheer on the Sacramento River Cats, the Oakland A's triple-A affiliate.

There's an abundance of diversity in the cuisine that Sacramento has to offer. From Australian, Ethiopian, French, Italian, Moroccan, Thai, Vietnamese, and of course the best American food around, there's nothing you won't find in one of the many Sacramento-area restaurants. In the mood for a contemporary bistro? Then head to The Waterboy. Looking for a riverfront view and a friendly and relaxing atmosphere? Then Rio City Café is the place to be. Need an intimate setting for a special occasion? Dine among lush gardens and majestic oaks on a secluded courtyard at the Slocum House, voted Sacramento's "Most Romantic Restaurant." The Riverside Clubhouse offers a variety of cuisines sure to please any palate. Indulge in an after-dinner café mocha at Java City and admire the beautiful view of the capital building lit up at night.
