Dayton

Page 1*Page 2
For participants and spectators alike, Dayton offers ample sporting opportunities. Over 60 public and private golf courses are scattered throughout the surrounding areas. Baseball fans are close to the action at the Dayton Dragons minor league baseball team's downtown stadium. Are you ready for March Madness? College basketball fanatics can be seen cheering on the University of Dayton Flyers and Wright State University Raiders. And for those drawn to major league sports, Cincinnati is only an hour's drive to the south.

Looking to get away from the city? Hueston Woods offers any number of outdoor activities for its visitors. From boating and fishing on Acton Lake, to hiking, horseback riding and picnicking, Hueston Woods has it all. And for those who want the taste of nature without having to really "rough it," spend a few nights at the Hueston Woods Resort. This facility offers indoor and outdoor swimming, a championship 18-hole golf course, as well as all the amenities of its natural surroundings. Waynesville, another getaway destination, has more than 30 antique shops and boutiques to find that special piece you've always wanted.

Dayton's Riverscape showcases the area's natural beauty with numerous gardens and fountains, parks, retail and outdoor entertainment sites. The park complements the city's already popular River Bikeway, with 24 miles of biking and foot trails along the Great Miami and Stillwater rivers.

Even though Dayton's Historic Oregon District still has original buildings built in the 19th century, it is teeming with modern amenities. Antique shops, boutiques and bars are accompanied by some of the best restaurants in town. Locals rave about the seafood at Jay's and L'auberge's French cuisine. Barrelhouse Brewing Company serves up micro brews and live music. For live jazz and blues check out the Blue Wisp, the center of cool in Dayton since the 1970s. Slyder's Tavern is another "throwback" favorite for dining and nightlife.

With this city's mix of business and pleasure, you can take off and fly with Macy's in Dayton. And you may never look back.
