The Columbus Music Festival, held in late May, kicks off the summer with a variety of live bands and food. Another big event in the area is the Columbus Arts Festival. Held in Battelle Riverfront Park, this festival attracts hundreds of local and national artists eager to show off their works. There are also a number of ethnic festivals in the area like Bavaria Fest, Asian Fest and the popular African American Cultural Expressions Festival that are sure to bring out the culture in everyone. Columbus residents enjoy concerts at the Newport Music Hall, Germain Amphitheater, and PromoWest Pavilion. Columbus nightlife is centered around High Street and the Short North neighborhood. Art is the name of the game here as there are two performance centers and numerous art galleries scattered among the shops and eclectic boutiques. While most visit the Short North for its culture, the food is the real jewel. Some of the best ethnic restaurants in town are found along the neighborhood's main drags. And don't miss the annual "Artist's Market" held every spring in the North Market. Another hotspot is the German Village. Right in the middle of downtown Columbus, this neighborhood has a great selection of bars and eateries as well as historical buildings and shopping opportunities. Stop in to the Barcelona restaurant for great drinks and great food. Not too far away, the Union Station Video Café is another popular haunt for the after-work crowds. At the Frog Bear and Wild Boar Bar, right across from the Nationwide Arena, the view, the food, and the people-watching provide for an entertaining evening. On the east side of Columbus, Easton Town Center is the place to go for all of your shopping needs. An outdoor and indoor mall housing several department stores and over 120 shops, apartment living, and more than 20 restaurants (including Smith & Wollensky steakhouse) make this complex a popular destination for visitors and locals alike. Columbus - with its "big city meets college town" atmosphere and young demographic - may be perfect for you. And a career with Macy's will help take you there.
