The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, a research and exhibition center on the Underground Railroad provides an interactive, educational look at this piece of American history. (Incidentally, Macy's, Inc. is a major supporter of the project.) Cincinnati also is proud to support its unique local quirks and customs. Eat locally made Grippo's potato chips (rumor has it, the empty bag might be lucky). Walk down Ludlow Ave. in the Clifton neighborhood for good food, interesting shops, and one of the best movie theaters in town. Or explore Mt. Adams for its maze of narrow streets lined with townhouses, galleries, restaurants and nightclubs. While you're there, dine at the Celestial Steakhouse, offering the city's finest wine list and excellent steak and seafood. Just across the river in Covington, KY lies the Cock and Bull English Pub, where locals enjoy Cincinnati's widest selection of imported beers. Dine at Skyline or Gold Star for the aforementioned chili delight. Finish it off with a scoop or two of Graeter's homemade ice cream (famous for its killer chocolate chunks). Stop at Kaldi's Coffee House for the obvious, but also for books, food, music and a full bar. Learn to say "please" as a question (instead of "excuse me?"). Celebrate Opening Day for the Reds (an officially unofficial local holiday). For great music, go to Bogart's on Vine Street. The "Showcase of the Midwest" houses numerous acts each year, ranging from local bands to famous names like B.B. King. Whatever your tastes, this is a place that's bound to surprise you.
