Cincinnati

*Page 1Page 2
Macy's, Inc.'s operations in Greater Cincinnati (including Macy's Corporate Services, Macy's South stores, Macy's Credit and Customer Services - the Financial Administrative and Credit Service Group and Macy's Logistics and Operations) have brought thousands of new faces to this Midwestern city. And often, newcomers are surprised to find a place that's urbane and sophisticated - a genuine "major league" city - yet small enough to be accessible.

In just about every imaginable way, Cincinnati is captivating. On one hand, it's conservative, comfortable and family-oriented. You'll find historic neighborhoods, thriving arts, a handful of distinctive local specialty foods (who would have thought of cinnamon-spiced chili served over spaghetti?) and plenty of parkland.

On the other hand, few other cities of this size can claim the level of sophistication and diversity that results from the thousands of young professionals recruited to Greater Cincinnati by major corporations such as Macy's, Inc., Procter & Gamble, The Kroger Company and Chiquita Brands. With them come energy, fashion, eclectic preferences and a certain unpredictability. (This is the city where Jerry Springer was once mayor ... where Steven Spielberg grew up and saw his first movies ... and where George Clooney ran errands for his father at a local TV station, and also tried out for the Cincinnati Reds!)

If you're into sports, Cincinnati's teams include both major league franchises (including the Reds and the Bengals), as well as perennially ranked men's and women's basketball powerhouses at the University of Cincinnati and Xavier.

For arts lovers, there's the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra offering classical strains, as well as the world-renowned Cincinnati Pops for more contemporary fare. The Cincinnati Art Museum and Taft Museum present respected traditional collections, while the Contemporary Arts Center is prone to be more daring - even controversial. Live theater is frequent. And rock, rap, R&B, jazz and folk performers appear at venues around the city.
