Our Interview Process

To help you be better prepared for your Macy's or Bloomingdale's interviews, here's an overview of what to expect. In addition, we're glad to share some advice to help boost your confidence during the interview process:

Campus Interviews
First-round interviews are conducted on campus. Interviews are preceded by an information session that we encourage you to attend. This session will give you more insight into the day-to-day business of retail.

Our interviews consist of two 30-minute sessions with two different executives. We use behavioral-based questions that will focus on your accomplishments, goals and interests. You also will be asked to complete a critical thinking test as part of the first-round process. This test requires no studying and will last about 45 minutes. Here are a few sample interview questions:

• Give me an example of a good decision you've made recently.
• What has been your biggest achievement at college? Why?
• Tell me about a summer job or internship that gave you insight into running a business. What did you learn?

Following the in-person interview, you will be given a URL to access an Internet questionnaire. We'll allow five days for you to answer the questionnaire, which should take you about 45 minutes. After completing this first-round interview process, you will typically hear from us within two to three weeks.

Corporate Interviews
If you are selected for a second-round interview, you'll definitely come to visit us at Macy's or Bloomingdale's on-site! The second-round process will also include two to three behavioral-based interviews, each lasting about 45 minutes. During the on-site visit, you will have an opportunity to participate in other activities to help us get to know you better and to help you decide if we are the right fit for you.
